Misty Mountain is a 280-hectare South African Natural Heritage Site situated on the spectacular Long Tom Pass, 31 km from Lydenburg and 24 km from Sabie in Mpumalanga. Misty Mountain is uniquely set in mountainous countryside with majestic views across the escarpment and into the Lowveld. Owned and operated as a lodge by the Sheard family since 1974, Misty Mountain is a place of tranquillity and natural beauty and an ideal place to relax.
Accommodation is offered in 27 units. Each unit features a private verandah, braai area, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The units are serviced daily and linen and towels are provided.
Misty Mountain caters for couples and families with a variety of accommodation options. Tariffs include bed and breakfast, except for the farmhouse which is equipped for self-catering. Guests have flexibility in terms of other meals. The restaurant specializes in superior country cooking, and lunch and dinner are available from the extensive à la carte menu.
Activities on-site include the Long Tom Toboggan, guided quad-biking trails, walking trails, Longtom Scootours, and bird watching.
The lodge is conveniently situated on the Panorama Route. Misty Mountain is an ideal base from which to explore the Mpumalanga escarpment, The Gorge Glass Lift, God’s Window, The Pinnacle, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Blyde River Canyon as well as the world-renowned Kruger National Park and adjacent private games reserves.
