Relaxing, peaceful, rustic stay.

A rustic overnight in the eastern Free State. We traveled the dirt road and were greeted by a natural grass garden, as we walked the narrow path upto the slate porch and entered the small rock and thatch house we knew we have now arrived in yesteryear. From the dated furnishings to the old bathroom door, this is living a century ago. The cosy cottage offered a gas fridge and stove. Paraffin lanterns for light fills the air at night. There is solar lights and solar power to recharge your phone, with added WiFi, but we opted for a campfire and watched the full moon rise on 17 January 2022. Mooiplaas are for those who value nature. We truly enjoyed the simplicity, and appreciated the comforts of clean sheets, towels and a hot shower. Our hosts were helpful and accommodating. We hope to be back soon for a week long stay.

Exactly the spot for a relaxing stop-over.

Mooiplaas is a beautifully rustic simple sleep-over spot with option for a short sunset and sunrise walk to stretch the legs between the long drives. Dog friendly and welcoming hosts.
