Description
Situated in the heart of the Waterberg, about 40 km from Nylstroom, Mothopo is a relaxing two and a half-hour drive from Johannesburg, providing the freedom of the bush, an abundance of wildlife and a wide range of outdoor activities. From authentic game hunting to bird watching, walking trails or just relaxing around the fireside with an African drumbeat, there is something for everyone.
The 425 hectares of malaria-free bush terrain, known as Knopfontein Farm, was acquired by new owner Walter in 2001 and has since been renovated into a game lodge.
The farm derives its name from Sesotho word for Blesbuck, the first buck delivered to the farm, and the three natural springs with crystal clear water referred to in Sesotho, hence the name Mothopo.
There are 2 self-catering lodges that can sleep up to 14 guests. The units have air-conditioned rooms with en-suite bathrooms, Jacuzzi baths, except for the Blesbok Lodge. Linen is also provided. The lodge has a dining area, however, meals are not catered for unless for special occasions and by arrangement with management.
Hunting is one of the most popular activities at Mothopo, though there are many other activities, including bird watching, walking trails or just relaxing around the fireside with an African drumbeat.
