Description
The Osfontein Antieke Klip Guesthouses and Treehouse is situated on a farm in Carnavon, a small town in the Karoo. The farm features some of the first houses built by the Voortrekkers in the early 1800s. Due to a shortage of building materials such as wood in the Karoo they built the houses entirely of stone, even the roof, which was well insulated, being warm in winter and deliciously cool in summer. These restored houses are available to tourists who would like to experience the feel of the 1800s.
Accommodation is offered in 2 stone farmhouses, each accommodating up to 5 guests, and a unique upstairs Treehouse which is a structured safari tent that can accommodate up to 2 guests, and is only a few steps from the pool. The farmhouses and the tent are equipped for self-catering with kitchen facilities and braai facilities. Electricity is available in each unit, making it possible to charge electronic devices during guests' stay.
There is a swimming pool to cool off during the hot summer days. Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement.
With all the wide open spaces, guests can go for long walks, mountain biking or drive with 4x4 vehicles on the farm with beautiful views. Sitting outside, guests will see the incredible star-filled Karoo sky at night, a must-see awe-inspiring sight.
