With regards to the mosquitos, this does happen from time to time on windless, hot days being close to the Berg River. They are usually gone in a day or so.

Thank you very much for submitting your review, we truly appreciate that you have taken the time to submit it.

We have removed the photo of the house where it appears to be with hardly any other buildings around, this was an old photo, thank you for highlighting this. In the meantime, the area has been further developed and we do have by now more neighbours.

As we know how cold and damp it can become in winter along the West Coast, we equipped the house with a gas fireplace, heater wall panels in the bedrooms, as well as a spare radiator for the guests to use.

The second bedroom's bedside table lamps, as well as electric blankets, were in working conditions, maybe you didn't see the plugs. The dispenser in the en-suite bathroom shows clearly "body lotion" and not soap. Shower towels, standard size, and hand towels were also available for your use.

Thank you for highlighting that the toilet paper roll holder has come loose, we shall take care of it.

thanks for taking the time to submit your review which we highly appreciate.

We are very sorry wrt load shedding which is completely out of our hands. However, we have prioritized and installed an inverter to make sure the most (to us) important electrical equipment in the house is working which is Wifi for our guests as well as the alarm system for protection. Obviously, it's a personal choice but we have left the TV off this list for a reason. The DSTV subscription is highlighted on description (before you actually make the reservation) that it is only an Easy View subscription with limited channels.

Please note that the extra cost you mentioned is for stays shorter than 3 nights, ie a fee of R 250, which is mentioned in the terms and conditions accepted by you before confirming the reservation (ie T&C: Taxes and Extras: A once-off surcharge of R 250 will be automatically charged for stays shorter than 3 nights and is not part of the quotation. Minimum stays requested: 3 nights, 4 nights over Easter weekend, 7 nights in High Season (15 December to 15 January).
Due to Covid 19, we have implemented a contactless check-in/out procedure to protect us, our staff as well as you, our valuable client, as best as we can hence the introduction of the new "booking procedure" (which includes the photo of the ID of all guests staying via WhatsApp, the completed guest registration form via a secured online link (takes less than 5 minutes to do all this). Thereafter you received detailed information about how to retrieve the key and further valuable information about the house via WhatsApp.
Surely you will understand that we needed to take some precautions if a stranger is been let into the house specifically from our side as we do not meet the guest in person since the introduction of contactless self-check-in/out. It is a common worldwide practice in the hotel/tourism industry for a guest to provide his ID to the host whether in person or via email/WhatsApp on/before check-in.
You can be assured that the installed CCTV cameras are only on the outside as inside cameras would interfere with your privacy.
We truly appreciate your comments about the condition of the house.
We hope to have been able to clarify our reasons for the admin part involved.

There are lots of things to do in and around Velddrif, it just depends on your interest. One can make use of the double kayak of Quay West and discover the Berg River and its beauty, visit the SA Fishery Museum in Laaiplek, enjoy a sundowner boat trip from Port Owen, visit the West Coast National Park which is approximately 30 minutes away, game drives at nearby safari lodges which is also a 30-minute drive away and bird Eiland in Lamberts Bay. The list is long. Maybe you should come back and we can guide you along?

Not sure if you made use of the kayak at Quay West to discover nature and birdlife on the river with the children? SA Fishery Museum in Laaiplek also offers activities for kids or how about to discover the long sandy beaches towards Dwarskersbos (about 5 minutes drive away from Quay West). The Fossil Park is approx. 20 minutes drive away, again also with focus on children activities. Pity you didn't ask before as there is so much more to do in and around Velddrif.
Maybe on another visit.
