Good afternoon Hazel,
I hope that you are well. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I have gone over your review as well as your reservation and firstly would like to apologise that it seemed as if the host that received you was not aware of the building or certain safety measures such as the stairs, there is no excuse for that and I have taken this further. I have had a look at your reservation and can confirm you did not pay for any additional cleaning services, I have sent you your invoice and the complete breakdown via email, please remember you booked through Lekkeslaap and not directly with us, if you had by chance requested the cleaning from them this request did not come through to us and you were not charged for any "during" your stay cleaning, there is a standard departure cleaning fee that everyone in our field charges our guests and this is for the day of your departure, as we need to clean after you and ensure the apartment is in the same standard as you received it for the next guest, when booking on any platform and even directly with a property this is a compulsory fee you have no option to select it, it will always be selected for you and included as compulsory, however if you actually selected / opted in for additional cleaning while booking and paid Lekkeslaap for this we did not get this request and we did not receive the payment, you need to take this up with them and ask them to reimburse you. You did not make any bookings for cleaning with us directly. Lastly, with regards to the maintenance, I have had a look at the reports on the apartment and the owner had requested that maintenance go and test the extractor fan in the bathroom and refill/exchange the stoves gas cylinder, no other maintenance was scheduled during your stay and it was not the intention to upset you, the apartment was newly renovated and the owner had asked that the extractor fan be tested to ensure it does work properly, I do apologise if this inconvenienced you at all. We had a great stay - next door is a gem of an eatery @Brick Lane Eatery which made it very convenient. However, the neighbors soured it on Saturday night by being rowdy with noise, shouting and loud music until the morning when their Hi-Fi finally gave up. Management did nothing about it and expected us to go to security to request that they be silenced. The people were making noise on the porches and it would have given off unnecessary confrontation.
