Description
Sani Lodge & Cottages is set on an enviable location on 30 hectares of land that borders directly onto the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park. It is situated on the Sani Pass road, just 16 km from the South African border post to Lesotho. Not only does the famous Giant's Cup Trail start from here, but so do many day and overnight hikes into the wilderness.
The Sani Lodge & Cottages is owner-run and offers a range of accommodation to suit a variety of budgets in rooms such as standard double or twin rooms or camping. There are en-suite rondavels, and four self-catering family cottages.
Two of the cottages have mountain views. The property boasts a swimming pool with fantastic mountain views, a restaurant offering all meals, a bar and a family nature trail.
Two of the cottages; namely Honeyguide and Ntshitshi sleep 6 people whilst Aloe and Guineafowl sleep 4 people. Honeyguide and Aloe have mountain views and two bathrooms in each. Each cottage has a braai stand.
There is a central area for the standard rooms and rondavels with a self-catering kitchen, lounge, braai area, and a swimming pool. The self catering kitchen is equipped with a stove, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, cutlery and crockery, pots and pans. The lounge has an open fireplace for cold weather, a book exchange, a reading nook, and dining areas. The outdoor braai area is where guests can bring their own wood and make a fire to braai their meat.
The on-site restaurant is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and teatime treats. Wi-Fi is available. You may sit outdoors in the garden of the restaurant or inside to use this service whilst enjoying our quality home-cooked food and our delectable Cappuccinos made from organic freshly ground coffee. At the restaurant, there is a bar serving craft beer, cocktails and mixers.
There is also an on-site Craft Shop and Farm Supplies Shop. The Farm Supplies Shop sells farm dairy produce, cheese, ice cream, yoghurt, cream cheese, feta, halloumi, butter, and fresh milk. The Craft Shop supports local South African crafts and ceramics made on-site. Simone offers Paint On Clay workshops daily which is fun for the whole family. There is also an Art Gallery with paintings by Simone.
Tours up the Sani Pass and into Lesotho can be arranged with The Sani Lodge and Cottages' very own on-site tour company, Drakensberg Adventures, which offers special rates and tours to their guests. Guided overnight hikes to sleep in a cave in the Drakensberg Park can also be arranged. Guests can also enjoy self-guided hikes..
