Description

Each chalet contains a bedroom with 2 single beds, and their own bathroom with a shower, a toilet and a washbasin. Each chalet has its own braai facility. Guests will also have shared use of a communal kitchen and a shared braai area. The communal kitchen is fully equipped with a stove and oven, fridge-freezer, cooking utensils and cutlery. There are also dining tables and chairs. Power in the camp is supplied by solar and gas, there are no conventional plugs.

This camp does not accept cash.

All visitors over 18 years old will be required to produce an identity document, passport or alternative valid identification e.g. driver’s licence card for scanning upon entering/exiting the Parks.
A standard daily conservation fee of R416 for foreign visitors, R208 for SADC nationals with a valid passport, and R104 for South African Citizens and Residents with ID, will be required on entry to the park.

Visitors to Bitterpan should please note the following:
Children under 12 years are not allowed at these camps: Kieliekrankie, Urikaruus, Gharagab, Bitterpan, Grootkolk.
This camp is not fenced and a Tourism Assistant is on duty at all times.
The camp and its access roads are strictly for the use of its residents only.
Visitors must supply their own firewood or charcoal.
Visitors must supply their own drinking water. The water in the camp is not potable.
No Trailers (even 4x4 trailers) will be permitted.
Visitors should be aware that there is limited driving opportunity once at the camp.
Only a one-way 15 km game drive, however visitors staying longer than one night may use the escape route to Moravet to go onto the tourist routes and back.
The entrance and exit roads (and the 15 km game drive) are strictly one-way.
No fuel and no shop, the nearest facilities at Nossob and Mata-Mata.

Bitterpan is situated in the centre of the wilderness, opening up a new 4x4 route through the Kalahari dunes from Nossob to Mata-Mata and the Kalahari Tent Camp. It is on a 1-way route starting from Nossob.
It is strictly a 4x4 route, but BIG 4x4s such as Unimogs or 4x4 trucks/heavy vehicles are not allowed.
Guests should consider staying at Nossob before their departure for Bitterpan, as it is an approximately 3 hours drive from Nossob along a 1-way 4x4 route.
Guests much check in to Bitterpan at Nossob, they cannot do so at Twee Rivieren or Mata-Mata. Nossob itself is at least a 3-and-a-half hour drive from Twee Rivieren.

For the benefit of organisms living in the dunes and riverbeds, and for your own good, please stay on the roads.
You are not allowed to collect firewood in the Park.
No motorcycles allowed inside the park.
No open game viewing vehicles or vehicles modified with an open roof or roof that can lift up or open or fold down side panels or window panels where occupants will be partly or fully exposed or outside the vehicle with no proper protection will be allowed in the Park.
The use of drones inside (and over) our national parks is strictly prohibited.
No smoking is allowed inside the accommodation.
Remember, by feeding any wildlife you are signing their death warrant, as they become aggressive.
In camps, beware of animals such as jackals who, if allowed, will even scavenge food from your fireplace.
As outdoor lighting in camps is limited, a torch/headlamp is required when walking outside at night.
Hikers on day and overnight trails must always carry sufficient water.
Pets are not allowed in a National Park.

Cancellation Policy - Custom

Cancelling or downgrading of a reservation 45 days or less prior to, or on, arrival will result in cancellation fees according to a sliding scale, based on the total reservation cost, which varies between 50% and 100%.
