House Rules

Please note: From 1 September 2017 all visitors over 18 years old will be required to produce an identity document, passport or alternative valid identification e.g. driver’s licence card for scanning upon entering/exiting the Parks.
A standard daily conservation fee of R360 for foreign visitors, R180 for SADC nationals with a valid passport, and R90 for South African Citizens and Residents with ID, will be required on entry to the park.

Due to the location of this facility, all visitors need to make arrangements with the Platteklip Wash Houses prior to arrival with regards to porterage and arrival time on top of the mountain at the cottage.
Please note this is still hiking accommodation and all visitors need to hike up and down the mountain. We do not offer lifts to anyone using this facility and nor do we grant permits for vehicles to be driven up the mountain to deliver young or infirm guests.
Porterage is arranged with the Platteklip Wash Houses. Porterage is from Constantia Nek parking area. Please do not leave your car overnight in the Constantia Nek parking area and rather get a friend to drop you off on the day of your hike.
There is no electricity at the cottage and gas geysers and a gas stove are supplied.
No pets are allowed at any overnight accommodation in the park.
Cell reception in the area is poor.

We ask that all guests manage their activities to retain the quiet and peaceful ambiance of the site and the Park. Hence no loud music allowed.
Although a cleaning service is provided, we ask guests to respect the environment and keep the site clean.
Guest to wash their own dishes prior to departure.
To save water and electricity towels will only be replaced on request or after 3 consecutive nights.
Place dirty towels on bathroom floor for replacement.
Use water sparingly water is a scarce resource in this location
No lifts are available up and down the mountain in the parks vehicle due to risk concerns.
No permits will be issued for guests to drive their own vehicle up and down the mountain.
Outside fires may only be made on low fire risk days – please follow guidelines set by the Tourism Supervisor.
We supply a starter kit of wood and recommend you bring an additional bundle or 2 if you like a fire.
Smoking strictly limited to outside fireplace area. Dispose of cigarette butts in the fireplace.
Report any damage to the Tourism Supervisor immediately and /or prior to departure.
Do not flush any foreign objects down the toilet.

The use of drones inside (and over) our national parks is strictly prohibited.
No smoking is allowed inside the accommodation.
Remember, by feeding any wildlife you are signing their death warrant, as they become aggressive.
As outdoor lighting in camps is limited, a torch/headlamp is required when walking outside at night.
Pets are not allowed in a National Park.

Portage: Luggage will only be taken up and brought down at 12:00 noon on day of arrival/departure from the Constantia Neck parking area. Please do not leave your car overnight in the Constantia Nek parking area and rather get a friend to drop you off on the day of your hike.
Please call the office on the day prior to arrival to make arrangements for porterage and confirm your arrival details. Due to the cottage location it will not be automatically opened for you unless you confirm your arrival in advance.

Cancellation Policy - Custom

Cancelling or downgrading of a reservation 45 days or less prior to, or on, arrival will result in cancellation fees according to a sliding scale, based on the total reservation cost, which varies between 50% and 100%.
