SANParks Smitswinkel Tented Camp
Description
Each tent contains 2 single beds and a shower en suite with a toilet and washbasin. Bedding and towels are included; however you might like to bring your own blankets with you in winter. Each tent has a small partially covered deck with a kitchenette that contains a bar fridge, 2-plate gas stove, a sink and cutlery and crockery for 2 guests, as well as a table and 2 chairs.

House Rules
Please note: From 1 September 2017 all visitors over 18 years old will be required to produce an identity document, passport or alternative valid identification e.g. driver’s licence card for scanning upon entering/exiting the Parks.
A standard daily conservation fee of R360 for foreign visitors, R180 for SADC nationals with a valid passport, and R90 for South African Citizens and Residents with ID, will be required on entry to the park.
We do not sell wood please bring your own wood with you.
Minimum of 2 guests booking required. Bookings are per tent, not beds. This is to ensure that you do not share a tent with people you do not know.
We ask that all guests manage their activities to retain the quiet and peaceful ambience of the site and the Park.
Although a cleaning service is provided, we ask guests to respect the environment, keep the site clean and wash their own dishes.
Baboons frequent the area and can be dangerous. Baboons should not be fed or disturbed in any way .Please keep all doors and windows closed for your own safety. If baboons inadvertently enter the camp, zip up all tent doors and close the boma sliding doors and windows. Alert the tourism officer on duty immediately.
We ask guests to also use water, electricity and gas sparingly
No plants or animals may be removed or introduced from or into the Park. The feeding of wild animals is also prohibited.
Please remain on designated footpaths to ensure the natural environment is not trampled.
If any abuse or deliberate damage of SANParks property occurs the client will be expected to pay for the losses.
Check-in time for accommodation is from 14h00 to 17h00 in winter (Apr to Sept) and 14h00 to 18h00 in summer (Oct to March) and accommodation must please be vacated before 10h00.
No late entry/ check in after the park operating hours. Should you arrive after the closure of the check in time as listed above you will be obliged to find accommodation elsewhere and will not be entitled to a refund.
All members of the party need to arrive at the same time.
All Guests are required to pay a daily conservation fee, per person, per day for the whole duration of their stay. If you have a valid Wild Card the persons that are loaded onto the Wild Card as members do not have to pay the daily conservation fees. Please note that the My Green Card cannot be used in lieu of daily conservation fees when using Table Mountain National Park accommodation.
Camp Safety:
Ensure that the doors, gates and the access boom are kept closed and locked at all times.
Keep tents and kitchenette area closed when not in use.
Be mindful that you may be sharing the communal kitchen with other users. Please leave the site as you would like to find it, clean and neat.
Report any damage to the Tourism Officer immediately.
Do not flush any foreign objects down the toilet.
The camp is not patrolled at night by a security guard
The tents do not have safes in them into which you can lock your valuables. Please leave your precious items at home.
Fires:
Outside fires (in the designated fire place) may only be made on low fire risk days – please follow guidelines set by the Tourism Officer.
Smoking is strictly limited to outside fireplace area only or as directed by Tourism Officer. Dispose of cigarette butts in designated bins. Please do not smoke on the boardwalks or at the tents.
Please do not bring in additional gas cookers or alternate cooking equipment and only use those provided by SANParks at the facilities.
Social Events and Activities:
Loud music and parties are not permitted. The area is within a National Park and there are wild animals and neighbours to consider.
The alcohol consumption is at your own discretion, however disorderly behaviour will not be tolerated.
Events and Functions are subject to a special permit arranged through the Tokai Permits Department
Before undertaking activities in the camp, please check with the Tourism Officer to ensure that the activity is suitable and will not disturb the environment or other users.
No bicycles, skateboard, skates or such items permitted inside the camp or neighbouring facilities or paths. Such items may only be used on roads, tracks and paths designated for their use as guided by the EMP’s for TMNP.
Parking:
Parking is permitted in demarcated parking bays only.
Please do not block the emergency access gate

No parking permitted in the Residential or Private property.

Only guests booked into accommodation may be within the camp grounds.
Visitors are not permitted.
Please ensure that your confirmation slip is available when checking into the camp.
Guests are reminded that the entrance gates lock at sunset and no person may enter or exit after this time.
Access to the adjacent Staff Residential Area is strictly prohibited.
Vehicle access is via the middle boom (Camp Boom) along the designated track, into the Camp.
Guests arriving after the closure of check in times will need to make alternative accommodation arrangements.
The use of drones inside (and over) our national parks is strictly prohibited.
No smoking is allowed inside the accommodation.
Remember, by feeding any wildlife you are signing their death warrant, as they become aggressive.
As outdoor lighting in camps is limited, a torch/headlamp is required when walking outside at night.
Pets are not allowed in a National Park.
Cancellation Policy - Custom
Cancelling or downgrading of a reservation 45 days or less prior to, or on, arrival will result in cancellation fees according to a sliding scale, based on the total reservation cost, which varies between 50% and 100%.
