Lovely stay

We got the keys from an agent and went to the complex. We had no idea where the unit was inside the complex and had to figure it out ourselves. It is quite a squeeze for a big car to drive up and down through the complex and very steep. The parking! This was a huge issue for us. When we arrived, we had no idea where the unit was, we thought it was one of the houses in the middle block, but the photo we saw of the supposed outside of the unit was from another unit. We were booked into a unit in the very last block where you had to walk around the whole block to access the door at the back, which is quite a long walk (we had large luggage and two small children, so guess who were the ones walking to and fro with all the luggage). Our car couldn’t fit into the garage. The garages are very long but it is quite a squeeze to get into them. Especially the garage we were supposed to park into, as the wall is slightly built outward and in the way of where the car must go in and out. We had to park outside in the visitor's parking. Some of the cutlery and pans were still dirty so I washed them before use. The cutlery could do with some steak knives. There was one steak knife we had to share. (Just my husband and I, but if there were more people, it would have been tricky ). The DStv decoder and DVD player did not work, and some of the DVDs were also missing. The TV could log into Netflix, but there was no Wi-Fi. Luckily we brought our own (we learnt from past experiences). It was advertised that there was a coffee machine in this unit, but when we got there it was not so. We were told that there had never been a coffee machine and that the one in the photos was of other people staying in the unit for a holiday and it was their coffee machine. With that said the agent of yours apologized for the misunderstanding and gave us an extra free one night’s stay, which was lovely. We had the noisiest people in one of the units above us. Playing loud music and moving furniture around until very late hours. Who vacuums at 6 in the morning? The place was tidy and neat. There were enough towels. The linen smelled fresh and there were extra linen and blankets in the cupboards should it be needed. There is also an ironing board and iron. It was a nice surprise to see a drier as well in the unit (even though we didn’t use it). There are braai facilities in the complex with two spaces available to braai, but luckily the unit also has a braaier you can put on the patio, that we used. It was nice to sit on the porch and watch the waves and people fishing. The complex is very neat and there is almost always someone working in the garden to keep things tidy. The unit has an alarm system which was nice (I just wish someone from the agency explained to us which buttons on which remotes were for the alarm and gate, we pressed the panic button a few times, but eventually figured it out). The description of the bathrooms stated one bath and one shower. There is one bathroom with a shower and a bathroom with a shower and a bath. So it was a great surprise to have two showers we could use. There was one night when the electricity went out. There is one light in the living room that goes on automatically. You also sent out a message to say they are aware of the power outage and it seems the municipality is checking what went wrong which was nice to get an update at least. It was only off for about two hours. Overall, if we were to go to Scottburgh again, we would most likely book again one of the apartments in this complex as it is very close to the beach. We also know now what to expect (parking, car and unit wise ).
