It's peaceful and a great way to break away from the norm.

It was a beautiful drive to the place. Everything was amazing from the beginning. Charl and Jolene are super hosts. The premises has a lot of beautiful birds that come and go from 4am till way after sundown; we enjoyed that.

The stay was not bad but it could be much better.

The stay was ok, but the place was under renovation, which was not mentioned. We had to sleep in a room where the ceiling was not fully fitted. Indoor braai with no big enough grid to braai. The drive was not good; I nearly burnt the car clutch. They said it's because of the storm, but we could see it had been like that for some time. The next door guest had a big dog. I asked the owner if she could keep the dog inside as it nearly bit my baby. It never happened. I asked him for a double plug to charge the phones, but there was no plug. He told us there is a shop selling it cheap; he doesn't provide that, it's been stolen quickly. We had to phone him and ask where to drop the keys when we left. Some of the wall plugs also didn't work. The shower mixer was also broken.

The above put us in a bad light but this guest came very late with 3 persons instead of 2 as booked. They brought a baby that is not allowed as stipulated (no children under 4 because of the open swimming pool).
I did not have the heart to send them away because of their long trip and the tired baby.
The baby caused quite a bit of urine damage on the feather pillows, beds, and duvet.

The ceiling is not broken. We are putting in a second lower plank ceiling for looks which was intact. We do not provide plugs. The neighbour was notified and she booked out just after these guests.

A comfortable short stay with a beautiful view.

We stayed for a weekend, our first trip to McGregor. The rooms were small, but comfortable. Charl went above and beyond with his communication and checked up a few times during our stay to make sure everything was comfortable. We shared the property with another family, but had no privacy issues. The pool and garden are both great spots to relax. A great choice for a short stay, and a big thanks to Charl for being such a generous host.
