Netjiese eenheid in 'n rustige area; jy sal 'n grondpad moet ry, maar die meeste van die pad tussen Dullstroom en Tonteldoos is redelik goed instand gehou. Die kos by hul restaurant is heerlik, en beslis die geld werd. Elektriese komberse was 'n welkome detail in die koue winternag.

Lekker plekkie.

Lekker stil plekkie. Lekkerste hamburgers. Beste bar vir rugby met kaggel. Kamers netjies met alles wat mens nodig het.

Peaceful nature's hideaway!

It was quite an experience. I liked the tranquillity and peacefulness, as well as the melody of nature surrounding the venue. Though it was cold, overall it was exquisite.

Bleddie lekke.

Uitstekende diens. Die dame wat ons ontvang het, het jou sommer met die intrapslag laat welkom voel. Die akkommodasie was netjies en skoon. Die restaurant het die smaaklikste kos asook bekostigbare. Ek sal nie voorstel om nie met 'n klein kar op die grondpad te ry nie, die grondpad van Dullstroom na The Hungry Otter is nie in 'n goeie toestand nie. 'n Groter voertuig word beslis aanbeveel. Die pad is ongeveer 27 km lank. Maar moenie dat die pad jou afskrik nie, aan die einde van die stofpad wag 'n lekker kuier.

Dit was rustig, geen probleme behalwe die pad nie.

Die Hungry Otter is 'n baie lekker plek om by te bly, maar die tonteldoos pad is verskriklik erg, moenie daar gaan as jy nie 'n 4x4 ry nie.

Serene and peaceful environment.

I recently stayed at Hungry Otter and truly appreciated the peace and quiet it offered. It’s a great spot to relax and unwind, with a serene atmosphere that’s perfect for a short getaway. However, there were a few aspects that could be improved. For example, key information about services like cleaning fees, horse rides and fishing facilities was not readily available and we had to ask for these details. Displaying this information upfront, along with a guide to nearby attractions, would be very helpful for guests. Additionally, I feel it’s important to mention that the gravel road leading to the property is in a poor state. This could be a challenge for some travellers and providing a heads-up about road conditions would allow visitors to plan accordingly. Lastly, while the property is enjoyable for a shorter stay, I wouldn’t recommend a longer visit, such as the 9 nights we spent there, as the accommodation may not be ideal for an extended period. With a few adjustments, Hungry Otter could offer a more seamless and enjoyable experience. Thank you for the peaceful stay and I hope these suggestions can help enhance future visits for others.

Ons het die verblyf baie geniet. Vriendelike personeel. Die rustigheid en stilte was puik.

Dit is oulike blyplek. Die grondpad is absoluut sleg!

Ons het lekker gebly. Behalwe vir die baie slegte grondpad! Dit is regtig 'n hele uit Dullstroom uit.

Maybe for someone else, but not again!

Maybe someone else's cup of tea, the travelling backpacker, the biker maybe, but not again. Bar and food were good, interesting and really tasty burgers. Accommodation is clean but basically budget rugged. Beds are cheap and move around, one plug to service the whole room and the electric blanket and bed lights are "dodgied" into one electric cable with insulation tape wrapped around (and then one side of the blanket stops working). It was cold, so we used the firepit in the hallway; well, the wind blew in at the roof as it is all open and they did not even clean the firepit the next day. You need a 4x4 to get there as the road is bad, with ruts, gutters, and rocks that can damage your sump if you have a low sedan-like vehicle and potential for flat tyres (passed people in a Merc who were changing tyres going back to Dullstroom). Water is hot, but taps are outdoor valves and open copper piping. Maybe for someone else, but no, not for me. There is a difference between rustic and cheap.
