Disappointing and frustrating.

Marilena does not live on-site and arrived late both mornings to start breakfast - first morning was so late that we went without. We requested a refund. All the blame is laid on her employee who she puts down all the time. There is no emergency lighting for loadshedding, we arrived after dinner while Eskom was off and fumbled in the dark to unlock doors and walk down steps. Hence the low safety stars. The room was spacious and clean but for us the bed was too hard. The bathroom was large with a double basin but only one mixer had water. Unfortunately, not a pleasant experience and we will never return.

Terrible.

Huge disappointment. We are not the ones to complain, but the "facilities" advertised were not available and it was excuse after excuse. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone considering it. The "pool" was empty, the shower head was broken (since 2015 apparently from previous reviews), double basin plug not working, and the cold tap did not work. No air-con as advertised, no fans (all stolen apparently), couldn't iron clothing (the iron was taken home by her helper). We were left in the dark (no load-shedding had started), not one light was left on for us, we had to find our way in the dark to find a light switch to turn on a light in the reception area. No one stays on the property to take care of the guests or any requests that one may have. The guest house was empty. The patio was locked up with no access to the patio area for fresh air. It was 34 degrees, and we felt trapped in an oven. TV didn't work. The fridge ice tray was full of mould, we asked them to please clean it so we could at least have ice. The owner was extremely rude, obnoxious, and very unhelpful. We left the following morning even though we paid for 2 nights, she didn't seem to care. She deflected blame onto us and her staff. How inappropriate and disrespectful. All Marilena (owner) did was use us as her scapegoat, we were to blame for everything. There was no backup power even though she has solar, we were blamed that the fan "she went out of her way" to source for us had used all her back up battery when there was not one light or TV on in the entire place. Won't refund us for the second night. We have wasted our money and moreover, the owner took no responsibility for anything that was faulty, missing or falsely advertised. She is trying to sell the property, so she really does not care about her guests or trying to accommodate them when she is at fault. This is not 4-star by any means and we will definitely not go back.

Technical problems.

The self-catering cottage experienced electrical problems resulting in the fridge, TV and air conditioner not working on a very hot night. Although tea and coffee sachets were supplied, there were no decaffeinated options (rooibos or decaf coffee), no sweetener and no milk/long life milk. The shower water was only lukewarm when turned on the maximum heat tap setting. The Wi-Fi was weak and inconsistent. I hope these issues will be resolved.

The Munday B&B Luxury Self-catering 's response

Gooday, I am so sorry that the apartment was not satisfactory. Four people showering at intervals will be lukewarm water
The Guesthouse each room has it's own geyser, 2 people sharing the same bed all the fancy teas and coffee are in the Guesthouse. It was Christmas Day and I made my way down to meet you. Apartment one tripped all the electrical power by overloading and I sorted it out by putting the main board tripped plug up and checked in your apartment and put the TV on for you which was working. I also went out of my way to bring in an electric fan.
You paid R450,00, per person and in the Guesthouse it would have cost you R2 400.00 at R600.00, per person.
