The definition of false advertising, the place is disgusting - Don't stay!

The only good thing about The Vic is their webiste, the place is disgusting. There is nothing boutique about this hotel and I question their 4-star advertised rating.

The breakfast was strange, with Macon.

The hotel needs a lot of repairs and looks tired.

Overpriced with zero attention to customer service and in need of maintenance.

We were the only people in the hotel for the 2 nights we stayed. The room was little more than a closet. The bedside tables were falling off the wall so you could not use them. The bed site lights did not work the 2nd night. The toiletries shelf in the bathroom was also falling off the wall. The TV was place so high - that the only way to see it was to stand up in one corner of the room. And it was near the shower head - seemingly unsafe. While generally clean - the carpet was filthy. The main stairway had missing supports with nails sticking out. When the wind came up the 2nd night - our window rattled incessantly as did the flap on the A/C. And there was a security light which flicked on and off all night like a strobe. It was impossible to sleep. I can't understand why we weren't given their best room to make a good impression. We have lots of friends who stay in PE for business, family and to access medical care. The Vic's location is good for all that - but I would not recommend it at all.

The Vic Hotel 's response

Good Day Ms Janin,

Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback.
It is a pleasure to inform you that, since your stay in 4 months ago, we made a series of restorations to the building. We were not able to adjust the room size but can be delighted to inform you that there are other rooms bigger than those available. You happened to choose the smaller of the room options.
The manager noted down all of the concerns you gave on your exit and addressed them in the following ways.
We have moved the TV to a more suitable eye level position with a swivel bracket
We have removed the bedside tables and added new bedside shelves in their place.
The light was on a motion detection setting. This was changed to a day night setting and the direction was changed to face the pool. We cant turn it off because it is for health and safety of the pool area.
We have also liaised with a professional cleaning service who now cleans the carpets and upholstery on a monthly basis.

We are very thankful for your input and would hope to have the opportunity to show you the changes implemented.
