Very lovely stay. Will return.

This was truly an amazing place to stay at. The pictures do not do the accommodation justice. It is really a breathtaking place that is suitably centrally located. Should we return to Douglas in the future, we will definitely return to the accommodation. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Ons het lekker gebly. WiFi-wagwoord was nie beskikbaar in die kamer nie.

Uitstekende verblyf!

Villiera Gastehuis het ons verwagtinge oortref! Dit is 'n besonderse plekkie! Die mooiste tuine, smaakvolle en duursame meubels en dekor. Hulle was ook baie gaaf om spesiaal vir ons 7-jarige 'n bedjie in die kamer te plaas. Ons is spyt dat ons nie langer daar kon bly nie, regtig die moeite werd, en verbasend hoe baie aktiwiteite daar in die omgewing is. Douglas is 'n pragtige skoon dorpie.

Ons het lekker geslaap.

Ons het in die donker aangekom en gesukkel om die ingang te sien. Daar kan gerus 'n lig by die naambord opgesit word. Die kamer is netjies en skoon. Ons kamer no 6 is net nie op 'n lekker plek nie, want dit is langs die kombuis en oorkant die wassery. So vroeg was daar al 'n geraas. Sou eerder in een van die voorste kamers gebly het. Dalk moet julle 'n vloerplan insluit sodat mens kan sien waar die kamers is.

Heerlik verblyf, gastehuis is pragtig.

Fantasiese.

Was 'n fantasiese plek om by oor te slaap. Veral as jy met 'n motorfiets daar opdaag. Kamer is groot. Mense is besonders vriendelik. Definitief die plek om by oor te slaap.

Uiters gerieflike verblyf.

Die kamer was, soos altyd uiters gerieflik, skoon en netjies. Ons bly altyd heerlik by Villiera Gastehuis.

Baie goeie en netjiese verblyf. Ontvangs baie vriendelik en bystand met klein versoeke was geen probleem.

Baie netjiese en mooi goed versorgde perseel. 'n Braaier was vinnig voorsien al het ons het eers donker opgedaag. Was 'n plesier om daar oor te bly.

Pragtige Gastehuis.

Ons sal defintief weer gebruik maak van Villiera Gastehuis as ons die area besoek. Kamer, badkamer, kombuis wasgerieflik en netjies. Baie veilige en rustige atmosfeer. Kamer was absoluut baie mooi. Lugversorger was definitief 'n "blessing" in die hitte. Atmosfeer van "tranquility". Amazing, heerlik geslaap. Vroegoggend koffie sit en drink op die stoep - in heerlike stilte, koelte en bome.

Wat 'n aangename verrassing! Die gastehuis en die omgewing is so mooi!

Die vele stoepe waar mens die pragtige tuine en bome kon geniet was so 'n plesier! Die dekor in al die eenhede is baie mooi, die kos was regtig lekker en die diens en vriendelikheid van die personeel was uitstekend. Ons sal beslis weer daar oornag.

An oasis in to which one may retreat to in the harsh Northern Cape.

It's always a delightful experience to stay over at Villiera Guesthouse. Guests are well-received, the gardens are stunning and the rooms are well-appointed and clean. What more can one say?

Really an amazing place to visit! Pretty!

Absolutely beautiful place. Amazing trees, grass, cute coffee shop. The room was so beautiful! However, our room wasn't as clean as expected. The bed coverings had spots on them, and the chairs in the room weren't clean. The rest of the stay was amazing! Spacious room, bathroom was great, kitchen well-equipped (could use some work on the cutlery). Furthermore, we were very happy.

Baie mooi plek met heerlike koelte onder die bome.

Die plek is baie skoon en netjies. Dit is egter baie gewild - daar was 'n konferensie met 'n groot groep lawaaierige mense tydens ons verblyf. Die volgende dag was daar 'n kunsmark. Kies dus jou tyd wyslik.

Heerlike verblyf.

Ons het in die selfsorgeenheid gebly met ons kinders! Mooiste stoep en lekker verblyf! Wasgoeddiens is puik! Daar is net nie goeie wifi nie, maar verder het ons heerlik geslaap!

Rustig plaasatmosfeer.

Baie mooi plek. Voel amper of jy op 'n plaas is met die neutbome en die stilte.

Uitsonderlike verblyf.

Absolute waarde vir geld en probeer gerus die ontbyt. Heerlike nagrus gehad en sal vir seker weer kom kuier.

Netjies, goeie waarde vir geld.

Very good experience!

We went for a funeral but we had a good experience with timing and all the help we received from the staff!

Stayed here as we were retracing steps from when I had stayed here often from 2013-2017. Not as good as it used to be - 2 x new owners in the meantime, has lost it's personal touch. Loadshedding meant that cell network was not available, thus calling to say we were at the gate was problematic and we waited for someone to exit and drove in. Felt uncomfortable to do (security). Friendly reception but tricky terrain as they have been building and lighting to our parking area was not good.

Got the self catering unit, which we had not asked for which, overall, was not a problem, except the utensils provided seemed haphazard and definitely not adequate for a family who would potentially stay in the unit: one fork, 2 knives, 4 spoons, a teaspoon, a mix of plates and cups. Coffee selection was awful: Ricoffee only - it felt as though it had not been stocked and checked. 2 Stale rusks in the tin. Needs a lot more attention to detail. Breakfast was very fairly priced but moderately good - did not get order as asked, took quite a while to get the food so I did not sweat it. I realise that Covid probably has not helped. Things obviously still need to settle with the new owners. Bath tap fitting is positively dangerous as it was fitted upside down! Health and safety needs attention. Were not able to connect to the Wi-Fi - thus if travelling for work this is not a good option. Would not recommend for now, even though the cleanliness and the bed were very good.

Het laataand eers geariveer, maar die telefoniese ontvsngs het ons baie gehelp. Die kamers was netjies en alle geriewe was beskikbaar.

Die dame aan diens het ons telefonies gehelp om in te kom en die sleutels was in ons kamers. Ons is ook gehelp met moontlike eetplekke in die dorp. Hoewel die kamers skoon en netjies was, is dit nie heeltemal 4 ster standaard nie en die prys per nag werd nie. Ek sal eerder volgende keer by goedkoper plekke oornag. Alles soos in die foto's is daar maar beslis meer verouderd.

Very disappointed. Not what I expected.

I chose Villiera Guesthouse because of all the positive things I saw on Facebook and on their e-mails to me. I saw that it was rated a 4 star guesthouse, so I had certain expectations, but I was satisfied, because what was offered on the e-mails and facebook matched a 4 star. I went with my sister's son. When we arrived there and the receptionist opened the kitchen cupboard, two cockroaches scattered away. The cupboard had a mouldy, mildewy smell. I bought cockroach repellant and discovered a few more. The saucepan had no lid. The layer of ice in the freeze compartment of the fridge was so thick, that we could hardly get the ice tray out. The fridge wasn't cold (because it was obviously not cleaned and defrosted for a long time), so I had to switch it to the top level (5) to keep our perishables cold. Only the next day I could turn it back to 3 again. The TV did not work. The receptionist brought another decoder, but it did not help. She promised to call DStv the next day. She did so and they came. The TV worked afterwards, but still, at times, gave problems by only showing "loading, loading." They said that the DStv was the full package, but some of the KykNet channels were not there. The Wi-Fi went on and off, on and off. I was looking (very much) forward to relaxing in the spa and having hot stone therapy, etc. We also prepared ourselves for using the bar, especially at 00:00 on New Year, to drink a special toast with the other guests! (But also during our stay) Neither the spa or bar was operating. I was very disappointed and asked them how they could entice people to their guesthouse under false pretences, expecting us to still pay the full amount and not having the services that were advertised, especially during the holidays and the festive season? The receptionist was very friendly and understood my concern, so she offered us a breakfast on the house. We appreciated that and I realize that she walked the extra mile for us. She was very accommodating throughout our stay. The breakfast, however, was also not worth the R90 that it would normally have cost us. We looked forward to swimming, since I do not have my own swimming pool at home and I prayed for good weather to allow swimming. What a disgrace! Well, I saw some people in the pool. Apparently opinions definitely differ, but normally, I guess, one would expect a clear, blue swimming pool that makes you feel that you could just get in as soon as possible and enjoy the crispy, cool, lovely water. Geez, what I saw scared me. I wondered what could be below there and maybe catch me by the feet! For the first two days one could not even see the bottom, the water was too filthy. From the 3rd day on the water was clean, but then I saw that the pool was painted black and the paint was chipping off severely. It did not look very appealing. It created the impression of a dam in which one could just add a few Khoi fish. I know that Douglas is a small town and it's known for its peace and quiet, but we really expected something special for New Year. I can just imagine how much money they could have made and how much publicity they would have gained by distributing flyers in advance, saying that they would be presenting a New Year's dance, the fires would be burning, the bar would be open, braai packs would be for sake, etc. I assume this maybe has nothing to do with the guesthouse itself, but I just wanted to share the thought. In general I just want to say that I do not only want to complain. I must compliment the guesthouse on their lovely, luscious, peaceful gardens and the way in which they maintain it. It's a pleasure to walk around there and in the evening it looks like a fairy forest with all the dim, romantic lights. The receptionist tried her best to help us and I told her that I knew that she is merely another employee there and she cannot take the blame for our concerns. Sorry that I had to write such a long review, but maybe it's time that you do a re-grading and pitch up unannounced. I did not want to be so negative, but I felt that I had to mention these things.

Het ongelukkig net geslaap en kon nie langer vertoef nie, maar pragtige plek en baie rustig.

Villiera se mense is baie vriendelik en die etes heerlik.

Die 3 nagte wat ons hier gebly het was heerlik, stil en rustig.

Was onvergeetlik en ons het dit so geniet.

Baie vriendelike en hulpvaardige ontvangs gekry.

Dit was aangenaam.

Dit was heerlik om daar te bly. Kamer was skoon, groot en baie mooi. Net een versoek. Dit sal lekker wees as hulle hul spyskaart vir gaste kan aanpas. Soms wil ‘n mens net rustig wees en van kamerdiens gebruik maak.

The venue is very beautiful, relaxing and inviting. The landscaping is breathtaking but the pool was dirty. We received a warm welcome, the rooms were clean and organised properly. The staff was warm and respectful but the breakfast service was a total mess and disappointing.

Heeltemal die moeite werd om hier te kom oornag. 'n Wonderlike lekker ontbyt. Moet nie google maps vertrou indien jy die samevloei van die Oranje- en Vaalriviere wil gaan sien nie.

Baie netjiese stylvolle gastehuis met gawe diens en fasiliteite. Kamers is ruim en smaakvol ingerig. Ons sal vir seker nog weer en weer hier wil kuier.

Baie oulike plekkie in die middel van nerens.

Ek was baie beïndruk met die plekkie, bekostigbaar, en baie mooi. Diens was puik en kamer was skoon en netjies. Ek sal vir seker weer daar aanklop, werk en persoonlik.

Luukse verblyf in 'n pragtige omgewing.

Pragtige kamers met gemaklike beddens en alle nodige geriewe in 'n mooi kompleks geleë in 'n rustige omgewing met 'n mooi tuin. Geskik vir van alleen reisigers tot familie groepe. Baie lekker gebly.

Baie netjies. Goeie ervaring.

Beveel aan vir alle reisigers.

Villiera gastehuis, is 'n baie mooi en netjiese gastehuis, goed toegerus en veilig. Baie rustig vir enige ouderdom en ruimte vir kinders. Die gastehuis is goed geleë en op die regte plek vir reisigers.
