Virginia Forest Lodge

Very pleasant and helpful.

I think there are small things that need repairs, door handles that come off, toilet leaking, otherwise very nice.

We are definitely going back sometime soon.

Breakfast is not available as stated on the website. I was visiting with my 2 teenagers. I would definitely recommend the accommodation. Great location, clean and quiet. Everything you need is close by.

Grootste "dud" in baie dudbesprekings.

Bedlampies werk nie, een het nie eers 'n gloeilamp ingehad nie. Uitgewasde, dun, harde handdoek, met kante wat uitrafel. Geen badmatjie. Geen hande handdoek. Matras plankdun met uitgewasde duvet. Geen mat.

Teleurstellend en ongemaklik.

Met aankoms moes ek lank wag op die sypaadjie vir hulp. My beddegoed het merke gehad. Die kamers is vol plastiese plante en ander prente. My hooflig het nie gewerk nie. Die foto's op die app lyk nie dieselfde as die kamers en omgewing nie. Die huis binne lyk oud en afgeskeep.

Vir ons doeleinde was ons baie tevrede met die akkomodasie.

Ons het eers sowat 20:00 daar aangekom en die volgende oggend weer vroeg vertrek. Die kamer asook die badkamer was netjies en skoon. Die stoep was nie skoon nie, maar ons het dit ook nie gebruik nie. Ons het heel veilig gevoel.

Friendly service.

The stay was very pleasant and clean. Jared was a great host. The only concern is the entrance and parking which is very narrow and small for big cars.

Beautiful area and safe, but disappointing.

Photos misleading. Very clean and staff very helpful, but definitely needs a woman's touch. Also, no breakfast is available, even though advertised. Furniture and bedding are old and tatty and no cutlery or crockery, 2 cups, glasses and 1 wine glass. Had to go ask for extras. Because of helpful staff and cleanliness, I can't give them a bad score. Just need a bit of an upgrade.

Very clean, safe and lovely area. The waterpolo boys enjoyed having the accommodation to themselves.

Glad nie soos die foto's op webblad nie. Aankoms het niemand op foonoproep gereageer om in te kom nie. Inganghekplanke deur termiete opgevreet en skep swak indruk. Die plek was uiters verwaarloos - tuin, sowel as kamers. Stukkende kaste, geen welkomkoffie- of tee-fasiliteite nie, geen wasbakprop in die kombuis nie, geen vadoek/e. Die yskasrekke is stukkend en die water drup gedurig op die vloer. Die kragproppe is baie skaars, die vloerplanke stukkend, die stoepmeubels is in 'n uiters swak kondisie en baie vuil.

The bedrooms were nice and clean but all kitchen appliances and utensils were very dirty. The ironing system is also not user friendly.

They need to buy new pots and throw away those filthy sticky ones, spoons, tee spoons etc. The garage must also be painted and tiled.

The place needs proper maintenance and cleaning.

The place needs painting, new floors, plumbing maintenance, couches to be repaired, not enough uniform cutlery, shortage of glasses, fridge freezes food, cupboards to be repaired. A second person is needed to help spring clean the house every day so it is clean n fresh for guests. The garden and pool were not well maintained. I wouldn't go back nor recommend the place to anyone in my circles.

Om enige sterre vir die plek te gee is te veel.

Swak diens, kamer was nie gereed nie en geen toiletpapier nie. Vuil en verwaarloos. Moet die plek nie eers oorweeg nie.

I would recommend this accommodation and will stay here again. After having to change accommodation when I arrived in Durban, they were very helpful in assisting me. I was greeted by a friendly face (Jared the manager), who helped me with my check-in and was always available. The rooms are neat and tidy with the amenities you need, just like in the pictures. The staff is extremely accommodating and very friendly. It is in a quiet and secure area. It is almost like a home away from home.

The place was reasonable. Smal things need to be maintained and some attention to details is required i.e. my room did not have an aircon remote.

Such an awesome laid-back place with no noise and the most perfect gentleman host who always ensure all is well. I will definitely be back.

Neat and tidy. Premises requires some attention. Lack of solutions towards loadshedding.

The guesthouse was neat and tidy. However, one can notice that the premises require some maintenance and attention. Room 2's DStv/TV link did not work. Lack to facilitate breakfast during loadshedding is an issue. To provide services to guests during loadshedding should be mandatory. This will distinguish special accommodations from lesser, more average ones.

The place needs attention.

Just decent nothing to brag about. The furniture was old not mentioning the fridges. We even had spoilt meat during our stay because non of the fridges were cold enough. A serious revamp of the place is needed.

I really enjoyed myself and my friends did too. The breakfast was very nice.

We will definitely go back to Virgina Forest Lodge. Thank you Elsabe you're such a wonderful and kind host.

Ons kan Virginia Forest Lodge definitief aanbeveel. Elsabe het uit haar pad gegaan om ons verblyf gemaklik te maak. Ons was in Durban vir 'n gala en Elsabe het al ons water en ander verversings in die kombuisyskas vir ons gestoor. Sal definitief weer hier bly.

The place was clean and neat.

The staff and Elsabe were friendly and helpful, the linen were clean and breakfast was delicious. We had a great stay, but I was afraid of the big cat.

Only had a one night stay due to a function close by, never the less, the stay was great.

Quiet area with all you need.

I enjoyed my stay at Virginia Forest Lodge. Located within walking distance from the beach, shops and restaurants. Located in a quiet area and I always felt safe, even when walking to the restaurants and shops.

Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast is delicious. Rooms are nice and clean.

In hierdie rustige omgewing kan jy werlik afskakel en die oomblik ten volle geniet.

As jy wil afskakel én ontspan in 'n sentrale veilige omgewing, is hierdie net die plek vir jou. Naby genoeg aan hoofweë maar vergenoeg om absolute stilte te ervaar. Vriendelike en hulpvaardige mense maak hierdie 'n móét op my lys.

Vandat ek aangekom het en 4 dae later vertrek het was dit net 'n plesier. Elsabe is 'n ster. Vriendelike diens, heerlike ontbyte en goeie geselskap. Ek sal definitief weer by Virginia Forest lodge kom kuier as ek in Durban is. Heerlik maklik en sentraal geleë na beide rigtings, Durban of Umhlanga.

The staff were not welcoming or friendly at all. They couldn't wait for us to leave and when we did, they didn't even bother to ask us if we enjoyed our stay.

Hierdie mense was baie vriendelik, ons ontvangs was gul. Hulle weet hoe om gaste tuis te laat voel. Hulle werk as 'n span saam en is baie hulpvaardig. Ons beveel hulle sterk aan by enige toekomstige gaste.

Excellent accomodation with superb hosts

It was an awesome experience and enjoyable. Conditions and atmosphere were perfect in lodge. The only issue was cleanliness with linen needing to be changed daily.

From arrival to departure you are part of this wacky hospitality duo's family. Really easy going and hosts Arlene and Mike are around to meet your needs or even ferry you safely to and from a local restaurant. I would definitely return.
