A wonderful family time weekend.

Dit was 'n wonderlike naweek. Plaas en area is baie mooi, so ook die cottage waar ons gebly het. Enigste ding wat ons kon voorspel was dalk 'n kol-kol bad vir warm dae om te gebruik en in wintertyd.

A wonderful family time weekend.

It was a wonderful weekend. The farm and area are very beautiful, as is the cottage where we stayed. Only thing we could predict was maybe a kol-kol bath for hot days to use and in winter time.

Tranquil, scenic, airy.

Our stay was really relaxing and distressing. The best part was the beautiful scenery/view! I liked the minimalistic look, but the living area could do with some functional furniture like extra chairs with backs. The coffee table is very low, not ideal for playing games/cards. Great WiFi available but no phone signal (which was fine with us). Quite remote but Stanford, Napier and Hermanus are close enough for a day out.

Thank you for your review, Pieter. I am assuming you mean de-stressing. Thank you for your fair comments about the functional furniture. We hope to see you again.

Enjoyable.

Our stay was very nice. Just a few suggestions to the owners. The photos show the fireplaces inside the house, which gives you the impression that you can make a fire inside. The reason we booked this place is that we thought there was a fireplace in the kitchen, which is nice when the weather isn't great. This wasn't the case, and someone had to stand outside and braai while the rest of us were inside because it was cold outside. Rather don't show the fireplace in the photos or make a point to say that you can only use the outside braai, which was also not in the photos. Then the photos are also misleading and look like it is very isolated, which in a way it is, but we were right next to the host's house, so it felt like we were being watched the whole time. We were looking for something more isolated. Then the host should have a look at the roof as it is very loud when the wind is blowing, and it was very difficult to sleep with all the noise. Other than that, the house is very nice, and we enjoyed the getaway. I just think the host should be more transparent with the fireplaces as well as the fact that they are right next to this house. Perhaps show this in the photos.

Watsonia Cottage 's response

Dear Michelle. Thank you for taking the time to carefully review our cottage. We hope the closed cast iron fireplace in the lounge helped to warm your weekend, as it was a very blustery cold time, with howling extreme winds at night. Although our outside braai area is completely covered and protected on three sides by walls, the wind was next level. The large kitchen with the Smeg oven and gas stove, I’m sure at least was a help to your group. As you say, the old fireplaces are filled with plants and left as a feature as we didn’t want our guests and our white linen finishes to be smoked out. We did our best to show all these features in the photos. We do appreciate your support and certainly hope you will return.
