Description
The Wheatlands Country House is a historic home built in 1912 that boasts high, pressed ceilings, wood-panelled walls, beautiful handcrafted stained glass windows, book lined corridors and antiques that have been collected through generations. The house is set on a working wool- and mohair-producing Karoo farm in the heart of the Eastern Cape, 50 km south of the town of Graaff-Reinet.
The house can accommodate up to 12 guests and contains 6 spacious antique-furnished bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The first and second bedrooms each contain a king-size bed and a full en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower. The other 4 bedrooms each contain 2 single beds. These rooms share 2 bathrooms, the first with a bath and the second with a shower.
The large kitchen is equipped with both a gas and electric stove and oven, microwave, coffee maker, and a separate scullery with a dishwasher. The lounge area contains ample seating, a patio, and a window reading nook. There is a second large open-plan lounge and dining room that contains an 8-seater dining table and chairs, comfy seating and a fireplace. The house opens to a covered patio with outdoor dining furniture, and a garden with a braai facility.
Snuggle up in the corner with a book and enjoy the house’s peaceful atmosphere or go for a walk in the veld and appreciate the natural beauty of your surroundings.
