PAYMENT
Medical Aid patients:
Hospital tariffs are charged according to a scale of benefits. Some medical aid funds require their members to pay a co-payment. Patients should be aware of this so that payment thereof can be made by the patient on admission. Patients are to arrange with their medical aid for a medical aid authorization number regarding their hospitalisation. This may take some time so patients should ensure that they initiate the procedure well in advance. Admission without authorisation can have serious financial implications.
Private patients:
Before admission private patients must discuss the total estimated cost of the hospital stay with their doctor and the Arwyp Medical Centre Accounts Department. The patient will be expected to pay this full amount on arrival at the hospital. It is therefore advisable that patients follow the pre-admission procedure as set out on www.arwyp.com to ensure that all admission and payment requirements are met in advance.
Once admitted, an update of the patient’s account will be communicated to them on a daily basis. Should a shortfall occur, the patient will be required to settle this when being discharged from the hospital. The hospital account does not include any other incurred costs e.g. for services rendered by the patient’s doctor, anaesthetist, radiologist, pathologist etc. Patients are to contact the hospital regarding advance payments prior to their admission.
