Chamberlain Bird Sanctuary
Description
Chamberlain Bird Sanctuary is a 2 hectare park situated in Pretoria, Gauteng. Visitors can enjoy a day surrounded by natural scenic beauty as they spot a number of birds flitting about in the trees.
Entrance to the park is free. Should you wish to visit the Sanctuary, you will need to collect the key from the Seniordal Retirement Village around the corner and arrange with the Nature Conservationists to open the bird hide during your visit. Spend the day exploring the park, having a picnic in the greenery, or hanging out in the bird hide.
Birds you can expect to see include helmeted guineafowl, southern red bishops, southern masked weavers, thick-billed weavers, tawny-flanked prinia, arrow-marked babbler, streaky-headed seedeater, ovambo sparrowhawk, brown-hooded kingfisher, karoo thrush, common myna, Cape turtle-dove, laughing dove, rock pigeon, and speckled mousebird.
