Description

Clifton is an affluent area comprised of four separate beach coves, numbered one through four, along Cape Town’s Atlantic seaboard. Clifton 1, 2, 3, and 4 are separated by large boulders and offer stretching white sands and icy turquoise waters. Clifton’s beaches were rated as one of Discovery Travel Channel’s top ten beaches for 2003 and 2004.

Clifton Second is a lovely stretch of beach along Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard. This beach is a popular spot for students and beach sport enthusiasts.

Like the other Clifton beaches, Clifton Second is easily reached from the beach road via a set of steep stairs or by walking along the other beaches. Ablution facilities are available at First and Fourth Beach which can be easily reached by walking along the sand. Outdoor showers, a kiosk with snacks, and umbrellas and sun loungers rentals are also available from Clifton Fourth. The water is quite chilly, but the surf is calm and the sand fine and white, and the views more than make up for it. Parking can be limited in summer, so be sure to arrive early.
