De Wet Cellar
Description
Created in April 1946, the De Wet Cellar bears the proud title of having the oldest cellars within Worcester. They used to produce around 3,000 tons of wines in the past, but since the early 1990s, they have started focusing on quality over quantity, which has yielded them numerous awards for their wines. In fact, one of their wines, the Pettilant Fronté, bears the recognisable “fork, knife and heart†from the South African Heart Foundation, as this bottle is not only flavour-filled, but has a very low-alcohol and low-calorie content.
There is a limited amount of wine on their premises, as they mainly cater to wholesalers, but for the curious visitor, they do offer wine tastings by prior arrangement. Numerous surrounding restaurants also stock their produce. The fertile soils, lush setting, and picturesque views, complete the traditional wine-farm setting, though modern equipment is used during the wine-making process.
