Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary

The Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary, also known as Noah's Park, is an exciting family attraction located along the N2 between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape. Visitors can look forward to guided and self-guided tours and daily interactions with a number of Timber Wolves, as well as exploring the animal touch farm.

The Wolf Sanctuary was established around 10 years ago as a sanctuary for a group of rescued wolves across South Africa. Since then, the park has evolved as an awareness centre, offering a beautiful, natural setting where visitors can see Timber Wolves, Black Backed Jackals, and African Wild Dogs up close. The wolves at the sanctuary are not completely wild as they have all been captive bred, but they are still far from tame (which is why there are so many notices warning visitors NOT to touch the fences). Interestingly though, they still receive the same veterinary care as domesticated dogs.

Visitors can walk the sanctuary on their own, guided by comprehensive boards and signs located around the enclosures. An interactive “Walking with Wolves" tour is also offered at 11h00 and 15h00 daily. The feeding of the wolves happens at 16h50 in summer and 17h50 in winter, where they feast on a generous portion of raw meat or chicken.

The animal touch farm is great for kids as it offers a chance to interact with a variety of farm animals. These include pot-bellied pigs, free range chickens, ostrich, emu, donkeys, ponies, dorper sheep, pigeons and doves, Friesian cattle, angora goats, pygmy goats, guinea pigs, bunnies, and more!

The sanctuary also has a charming tea garden offering light meals and refreshments as well as picnic tables nestled throughout the park. Other facilities include a kiddies’ playground and a gift shop with all sorts of local paraphernalia from wolf-themed t-shirts to handmade dream catchers.
