Hillandale Rehabilitation Centre is a 36 bed private rehabilitation facility in Bloemfontein, Free State. The centre provides rehabilitation services to private and medical aid funded patients.

GETTING THERE

The hospital is situated at 6 Woodland Hills Boulevard, Woodland Hills, Bloemfontein in the Free State. The nearest main road is the N1 highway that runs North-East from Bloemfontein Central. Woodland Hills is situated close to the new Tempe Airport in Bloemfontein.

Intensive Physical Rehabilitation Programs - Level 1, 2, D and O

• Spinal cord injury – traumatic and non-traumatic
• Stroke
• Brain injury – traumatic, non-traumatic, neoplastic and post-surgical
• Hip and knee fractures and replacement
• Major / multiple trauma
• Amputation
• Debilitating neurological conditions such as Guillain Barre

Medical Services for Disabled Persons - Level 3

• Complex long term coordination and follow up of SCI and TBI
• Conditions related to SCI, TBI, stroke and neurological debilitating illness. This will include:
• Autonomic Dysreflexia
• Seizure control
• Pressure sores
• Urinary Tract Infections
• Faecal impaction

Medically Complex/Post-Surgical Conditions - Usually Level 4, sometimes Level 3

• Administration of intravenous medications
• Providing respiratory therapy / care
• Evaluating care through path lab values, signs and symptoms
• Post-surgical care
• Managing and evaluating drains and tubes
• Complex dressing changes
• Evaluating and assessing changes in wounds
• Teaching care to the patient / carers

Pulmonary Care (Tracheotomised Patients) - Usually Level 4, but sometimes Levels 2 and 3

• Metabolic Encephalopathy
• Post-stroke airway and swallowing problems
• Neurological conditions with pseudo bulbar paralysis

Nutritional Management - Usually Level 4, but sometimes Level 3

• Enteral feeds
• Monitoring the effect of interventions and therapeutic diets through weight, tissue turgor,
• Wound healing and laboratory values

Cardiopulmonary Recovery / Rehabilitation - Usually Level 4, but sometimes Levels 2, 3, D and O

• Congestive cardiac failure
• Myocardial infarct
• Surgery
• Deconditioning following intensive care

Geriatric (over 65) Evaluation & Management - Levels 2, 3, 4, D and O

• Multiple medical, functional and / or emotional problems
• Improvement in the areas of physical functioning, activities of daily living and / or mobility
