Description

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) is the only university in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. It was founded through the merging of three institutions in 2005, but its history dates back to 1882 with the establishment of the Port Elizabeth Art School.

The university currently has six campuses; South Campus, North Campus, 2nd Avenue Campus, Missionvale Campus, and Bird Street Campus, which are all in Port Elizabeth, as well as George Campus which is located in George. South Campus, the main campus, was declared a nature reserve in 1983 and is the only university campus in South Africa where you can do a game drive.

Students can study towards diplomas and degrees up to doctoral level qualifications. A number of courses offer workplace experience as part of the curriculum.
