Pietermaritzburg Airport
Description
Pietermaritzburg Airport (PZB), also known as ORIBI Airport, is the main airport servicing Pietermaritzburg, in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The airport offers both scheduled (Airlink, Federal Air, and South African Express) and private charter jet flights to and from the airport. The airport has pilot controlled night landing facilities, as well as an aero-club on the air field. The airport is also used as a parachuting venue.
Skydive Durban operates from Pietermaritzburg after moving from La Mercy Airfield and offers sky diving for all levels. The Tandem Skydives involve a ground briefing, a scenic 25 minute plane ride up to jump altitude (10 000ft), and then you are attached to a qualified and experienced tandem instructor. You will jump from the plane and freefall for an exhilarating and unforgettable 35 seconds, and then float to earth under a parachute. During the 6 minute parachute decent you get the opportunity to fly the canopy. The instructor will take over for the landing.
