Pollock Beach
Description
Pollock Beach, or the "Pipe" as it is known locally, is a stunning beach in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth, along the Eastern Cape’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. It is favoured by surfers because of its excellent waves, and the sand that is scattered with numerous sea shells makes for lovely long walks on the beach.
A natural rock pool offers interesting inter-tidal marine life for the little ones to discover. Those who enjoy the freedom of the ocean can make use of the good snorkelling spots close to the Humewood golf course. The beach is a fantastic spot for swimming, sunbathing, and body surfing.
Facilities include a lovely lawn area, parking area, shower house with an ablution block, and the nearby Summerstrand Village Shopping Centre where a number of restaurants, banks, and shops can be found. There is also a cyclist path and walkway that stretches from within the dunes towards Hobie Beach and the boardwalk. The far end of Pollock Beach is best avoided, as it can get crowded.
