Port Edward Lighthouse
Description
The Port Edward Lighthouse, officially known as the North San Bluff Lighthouse, is located in Port Edward on the south coast of KwaZulu Natal. The original building was created in 1968 and rebuilt in 1999 by the Transet National Port Authority who owns and operates the Lighthouse.
The 24m tall lighthouse offers scenic views of the ocean. Previously, visitors could enjoy a meal at the coffee shop, and children could play on the jungle gym in the playground, but as of mid-2012, the lighthouse is no longer open to the public. The lighthouse is still operational with two beams that are visible for 40km.
