Rhenish Girls' High School
Description
Rhenish Girls' High School is a public boarding school for girls in Stellenbosch and the oldest girls’ school in South Africa. Situated in the Cape Winelands of the Western Cape, it caters for Grade 8 to Grade 12. Grown from a school for 8 missionaries’ daughters, it currently has 725 students, of which 150 stay at the hostel.
HERITAGE
Rhenish Girls' High School was founded in 1860 by Rev Luckhoff (Rhenish Church), making it the oldest girls’ school in the country. It had 8 students in its first year.
ACADEMICS
The Matrics have achieved a 100% pass rate for nearly 30 years and a 100% Bachelor's pass in 2014. Rhenish is the only school in the Western Cape to have done this.
SPORT & CULTURE
The school is best known for swimming and choir. It has been declared the top girls’ swimming school in the Western Cape for 10 consecutive years. - Swimming - Synchronised swimming - Water polo - Athletics - Tennis - Hockey - Netball - Squash - Cross country - Soccer
