Strand Beach
Description
Strand Beach, also known as Melkbaai Beach, is a lovely 5km stretch of beach located in the town of Strand, just before Gordon’s Bay in the Western Cape. The beachfront is popular with locals and holidaymakers, and can become very crowded during the holidays and on summer weekends.
The beach is relatively safe for bathing, but as there is not much shelter from the South Easterly wind, it can be quite unpleasant on a windy day. Two rock pools offer safe and warm paddling waters for the little ones. The beach is a firm favourite among surfers, fishermen, and body boarders. There is plenty of parking and shops on the beachfront road, along with a nearby waterpark.
