Things I Love is a quirky restaurant, deli, wine and gift shop in the sleepy town of Tulbagh, less than an hour and a half's drive from Cape Town in the Western Cape. The restaurant can be accessed by both Church and Van der Stel Streets, and offers a roaring fire in the hearth to welcome you at any time of the day.
The white washed iron wrought lattice, cosy seating, and assortment of small pot plants immediately brings to mind an unassuming French Provencal charm. The shop’s neat shelving is piled high with everything from porcelain dolls, scarves, and clothing, to silver tea sets, hand-painted cushions, and a pin-up inspired hip flask and shot glass set available for purchase. Row after row of items beckon you forward, from delicate hand-painted porcelain cups artfully arranged next to shelves of preserves, to the well-stocked deli selection that held water, fruit juices, yoghurts, and beers neatly stacked in rows.
A cosy side room with a fireplace, quirky decor, and overpriced furniture for sale invites you to take a seat and enjoy a meal or cup of tea. The menu offers food made with homegrown natural ingredients, handmade butter, real cream, free range chicken, and extra virgin olive oil. Expect beverages like freshly squeezed orange juice, health cocktails, selection of coffees and teas, sparkling grape juice, homemade ginger beer, iced tea, and organic raw chocolate milkshakes. Tempt your bellies with pancakes, freshly baked scones, cakes, and plenty of tasty breakfast items. Things I love is our favourite winter breakfast spot in Tulbagh!
