Umgeni Steam Railway

Description

On the first and last Sunday of each month, this well-restored steam train runs from Stokers restaurant on Kloof station to Inchanga station. A full breakfast is served in the old Station Master's house, while different vendors offer their wares to passengers, and children enjoy the playground. This nostalgic trip down memory lane is not only enjoyable but educational, and is a must for steam train enthusiasts of all ages and cultures.

One can also join the train for the 10h50 departure from Inchanga to Kloof where one can sit down to fine pub fare and an ice cold beer at the Stokers Arms Station Restaurant, and still be in time for the 12h50 train returning to Inchanga. They also run trains from Pietermaritzburg to Baynesfield, Nottingham Road and Wartburg. From a small beginning we now carry up to 800 passengers each day.
