Waverley Hills
Description
Waverley Hills is an organic wine estate, situated along the R46 in the Tulbagh Valley. They’re known for producing organic wines with plenty of flavour, and robust fynbos characteristics. Various grapes are grown to produce varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and Viognier. This is the second year in a row that they’ve won the “Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices†category award, received at the Best of Wine Tourism Awards 2012. They use no pesticides, and practice sustainable farming methods.
Their Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 has no sulphites in it, giving it a smooth, rich flavour with hints of vanilla and spices, though as the wine contains no preservatives, it is advised to keep the wine chilled and serve it as soon as possible. The unwooded Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2012 has a fresh, grassy, and fruity scent, with a slight herby aftertaste. Tastings can be done by prior arrangement.
