Wells Estate Beach

Nelson Mandela Bay precinct, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape
+1

Description

Well’s Estate Beach is located in the northern part of the Nelson Mandela Bay Precinct in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.

Interestingly, it was the first historically “black beach” during the apartheid era, to be awarded the prestigious Blue Flag status, in the Nelson Mandela Metro.

With a large recreational area, beautiful white sand dunes, and warm waters, this beach is one of the best spots in the region. The beach is sandy and wide, and its well-maintained water slides and paddling pools are great for kids. It also has pleasant picnic spots, a long raised pier built over the dunes for dolphin and whale watching, and a large recreational area with a first aid room, education centre, and a small amphitheatre. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer holiday peak season (November to April), and though it's quite windy during the summer, the warm water makes up for any potential inconvenience this can cause.
