"We found Calvinia a wonderful place to visit and we were made to feel welcome, everyone we met was friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and if questions were are asked information was readily forthcoming. The town has a rich history and its impact on the history of South Africa, I am a huge fan of old buildings and the Architectural heritage thereof, and the stories that go with it, also there is much to see in smaller towns within driving distance which enriches your visit to the Karoo. "

"The staff at the butchery - Calvinia Vleis - were extremely friendly, and went out of their way to accommodate our needs (by adding extra spices on the mutton chops at no cost). In spite of being busy on a Friday afternoon they still had time to inform us and direct us about the town/area/flowers etc. On a previous trip we visited the Museum which displays items of historical importance to the town and country. Truly a must see for all South Africans and of course for international visitors."
