Description
Hillston Farm offers self-catering farmstay accommodation on a working farm near Middelburg in the Eastern Cape. Hillston Farm is the ideal place to count shooting stars. Come see the rings around Saturn with our telescope. We also have more than a hundred birds to tick off your list, including the rare blue korhaan, and scenery to inspire any photographer or painter.
Accommodation is offered in the 6-sleeper Hillston Cottage, and the 8-sleeper Northmead Country House, sleeping up to 14 guests in total. Each unit features an en-suite bathroom fitted with either a shower, bath, toilet and basin. Guests can also do their own cooking in their fully equipped kitchen or enjoy a braai in the lapa outside.
Breakfast and dinner can also be provided at an additional fee, and meals are served in the farmhouse dining room or alfresco in the expansive garden. A laundry service can be arranged. The farm has a swimming pool with a view, so guests can cool off during the heat of the day.
We offer hands-on Karoo cooking classes or demonstrations by our very own Cordon Bleu-trained chef. Guests can enjoy a historical tour of the Boer War blockhouse, now a braai lapa and barracks which have been converted into a shearing shed, explore the river in search of fossils or the koppies for bushman etchings.
