Owner very accommodating but general appearance is untidy.
Very sketchy area – photos are misleading. The owner was not there and the woman in charge was very friendly, but for single traveler (woman) I would not recommend it. Dangerous and even GPS warned to look out for surroundings. Garden was very untidy and general appearance needed work. TV only had one channel that worked.

Pastel Guest House 's response
Hi Nelda, We are two houses down from the Berea SAPS station over the past 70 years we have never had a security risk except once washing was taken off the line. Unfortunately I couldn't be there as I stay at my other place. We have cameras, electric fence and rely on my trustworthy staff and guests to keep me updated and assist immediately. As advertised on this agents website we have OVHD satellite tv with all the channels they allow

Unsafe feeling, noisy guests.
Noisy guests until very late and place falling apart, tried to upgrade me to other room for more money and then sat in the room anyway.

The stay was good however security issue was the problem. No secured covered parking.
Pastel Guest House 's response
Please note regarding the parking, they are limited and by reservation for R20 per night for lock up garage in the main road, and the free on site open bay parking at the rear of the premises access from the back lane between 06:00 and 22:00. Other times by pre arrangement. The free open bay parking at the rear of the premises are closed in between 22:00 and 06:00 with a false electric fence and the staff accommodation is within 2 metres of the open parking bays. The open parking bays are well lit at night and a block of flats overlooks the rear parking bays. The front Rroad is a narrow cul de sac where all the neighbours and neighbouring police station, park their vehicles as well. Both the lock up garage and open parking bays are for standard sized cars. No buses trailers or vans will fit. Long wheel base vehicles will fit at the rear open bays only and with some manoeuvring.

Pastel Guest House 's response
We do advertise quiet times with signage and tend to select couples and avoid groups where possible. In the event a guest is noisy we request them to be considerate and obey the rules. The staff stays in a separate building and I stay at my other guest house so rely on guests communicating any noise from other guests. All guests have 24/7 Whatsapp lines open to me to attend to any concerns.

Value for money.
Pastel Guest House 's response
Sorry but this is incorrect, there are three rooms all en-suite with their own bathroom.
Only one room, our cheapest room, which seems to be popular due to its low price, has its own bathroom. No one else uses it however, you have to go out of the room to the bathroom. I.e. it is not en-suite. No ne shares bathrooms. Thanking you kindly.

To noisy, parking is a problem as the road is so narrow even to get into the garage was a huge battle due to the size of my car and narrow street.
Pastel Guest House 's response
Apologies, its a narrow cul de sac which ends by the police station. All the neighbours and the neighbouring police station, park overnight in the narrow street. We cannot ascertain upfront the size of a guests vehicle, van, bus or otherwise unless notified upfront. Perhaps guests could inquire in advance regarding the lock up garage for larger vehicles in advance. Open bay parkings at the rear of the premises from the narrow back lane are suitable for standard sized cars, or something similar.
