Description
Syringa Sands Mountain Cottage is nestled on Syringa Sands Private Game Farm, perched high in the Sand River Mountains with sweeping views of the Seven Sisters in the Waterberg range.
This secluded cottage offers uninterrupted vistas, rugged natural surroundings, breathtaking sunsets, and complete privacy. The unit comprises 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The bedroom is furnished with an extra-length queen-size bed, as well as a single bed for guests who prefer separate sleeping arrangements. The bathroom is fitted with a basin and toilet, and features a private outdoor shower.
The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, stove, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Guests can enjoy their meals at the indoor dining table and relax in the cosy lounge, which features 2 daybeds. In the colder months, guests are advised to bring firewood and make use of the combustion fireplace for warmth.
Due to its remote location, the eco-friendly cottage is fully off the grid and powered by limited solar energy. The power supports the camping fridge, water pump, lighting in the lounge and bathroom, and a hot water geyser. The cottage has minimal cellphone reception, no Wi-Fi access, and uses rainwater harvesting with a storage capacity of up to 20,000 litres. Oil lamps are also provided for lighting.
The cottage is situated approximately 7 km from the Syringa Sands gate and about 5 km from the main cottage and campsite. It is accessible only by 4x4 vehicle, on foot, or by mountain bike. Guests may arrange in advance to be escorted to the cottage with the game-viewing vehicle.
Guests are welcome to explore the area by following the 5 km hiking trail to Rankin’s Beacon or enjoy a scenic 9 km walk down the mountain to the large dam.
