Montecasino Bird Gardens

Description

The captivating Montecasino Bird Gardens is situated at Montecasino in Fourways, Johannesburg, in the Gauteng province of South Africa. This excellent family friendly attraction is the only bird park of its kind in Africa and offers hours of fun for all ages.

Visitors can wander along enchanting walkways and enjoy a variety of features in the bird gardens, with numerous birds, mammals, and reptiles on offer. The walk-through aviary boasts over 60 species of birds, including the Scarlet Ibis and Nicobar pigeons. Mammals you can expect to see here include sloths, lemurs, meerkats, blue duiker, various small primate species, and smaller antelope roaming freely through the greens.

One of the main attractions of the bird park is the 30 minute Flight of Fantasy show held in the Tuscan amphitheatre. The stars of the show are talented and colourful birds who thrill visitors with wonderful displays of unrestrained flight. The shows are held on weekdays at 11h00 and 15h00, and on weekends and public holidays at 11h00, 13h00, and 15h00.
