The Red Leaf Restaurant is a lovely eatery set just off the R304 at Beyerskloof winery, approximately 5km outside of Stellenbosch. Situated at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain just 40 minutes from Cape Town, the restaurant offers lovely views of the Cape Winelands, red and black décor, and a deck with spectacular views of the vineyards.

The restaurant offers “all things Pinotage” with a range of Pinotage inspired dishes and great wine. Think things like cheese cake with Pinotage ice cream, Pinotage confit onions, and steaks sautéed in Pinotage Brandy and cream. Make sure you try the signature “Pinotage Burger”. Red Leaf is open for lazy lunches, corporate functions, and just about any occasion.

A bit about the winery

Originally known as Nooitgedacht, Beyerskloof has been farmed by the Beyers family for 6 generations. Today's farmer, Beyers Truter is famous for having perfected the Pinotage wine (a varietal long thought a dud) and the only South African to have won “International Winemaker of the Year” in 1991 for the same proudly South African wine.

Apart from the restaurant, there is also a dark wine tasting centre where visitors can taste 8 different wines, a cosy lounge area, 3 fireplaces, outdoor tables, and an outdoor deck. Make sure you come and taste the proudly South African Pinotage varietal that put this winery on the map.
