The Teatro at Montecasino

Established in May 2007, The Teatro at Montecasino is one of the top entertainment venues in Johannesburg, featuring the best musical, dance, drama, and comedic productions in South Africa. The Teatro is acoustically designed for large scale musical productions and it can accommodate 1,870 people at full capacity. Despite the vast number of seats, the Teatro has an unmistakable sense of intimacy and no seat is further than 33m from the stage. The Teatro is notably one of the 10 largest Lyric theatres in the world.

Past productions include The Lion King which was packed for 36 weeks and made South African history when it broke all box office records with over 550,000 people attending. Other features include Disney Musical, The Merchants of Bollywood, Chicago – The musical, Beauty and the Beast, and High School Musical – Live on Stage. There are wheelchair friendly seats available. In addition to the theatre, the Montecasino complex also has a variety of restaurants and bars.
